McDonald’s teamed up with VAIN Helsinki-based fashion company to launch its new fashion collection that was designed from the used uniforms of its fast-food staff. The collection has been praised for stylish outcomes that most people would not think of them as the brand’s workwear.
The new McDonald’s fashion collection has already made its way to social media, and many people were very surprised. They expressed disbelief in seeing the McDonald’s staff wearing stylish uniforms that are comparable to the clothing designs from popular luxury fashion houses.
Normally, customers only see the fast-food employees in their basic dark pants and polo separates, but now they are sporting button-downs, square-shouldered hoodies with the McDonald’s logo, and layered skirts.
In a report, these clothing pieces were designed through the collaboration of McDonald’s and VAIN fashion label owned by designer Jimi Vain. They are said to be making an exciting new entry into the trend that has been present for years that has seen Forever21 and TELFAR join forces with fast-food chains such as Taco Bell and White Castle to create offbeat clothing pieces for their brands.
It was noted that while the new McDonald’s fashion collection is very stylish, it will not be as expensive as the fashion line for branded cafes and restaurants of luxury names such as Gucci and Ralph Lauren. McDonald’s is still a lot cheaper, including the food offerings.
At any rate, VAIN said it created the exclusive fashion workwear for McDonald’s using the used uniforms of the staff. The designs reinvented worn-out clothing by thinking of new ways of wearing them. It also used contemporary fashion as its inspiration. VAIN was able to produce 13 looks based on the uniform styles and materials.
"When I was first presented with the idea of a McDonald’s workwear fashion project I was immediately intrigued. Growing up in a very rural part of Finland, there weren’t really any dedicated spaces for us to hang out as teenagers,” VAIN’s designer and creative director, Jimi Vain, said in a blog post.
He added, “The local McDonald’s sort of fulfilled that function for us. It was accessible to anyone and was a familiar vibe. Also, it was the closest we could get to global pop culture out there in the north. We spent many evenings, and made many memories, hanging around the local McDonald’s in our teens."
