The death of Sen. John McCain hit many people hard, but his family bore the brunt of the blow from his passing. His death has now apparently led “The View” host Meghan McCain to take an extended leave of absence. This information did not come directly from her, however, and was instead delivered by CNN anchor S.E. Cupp.
Meghan McCain has been a mainstay on “The View” for a long time and fans have been eagerly anticipating her opinions regarding a wide variety of matters. However, the death of her father meant that she had to go on an unplanned absence. In a recent sit-down on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” S.E. Cupp revealed that Meghan McCain is taking a leave.
The CNN anchor did not provide details on when fans can expect to see Meghan McCain debating with her fellow “The View” hosts again. However, it would be safe to say that it is going to be a while.
“She’s okay. She’s still working through it,” Cupp had said. “She’s taking a leave before she comes back into it all. It’s been really hard on her.”
As the Atlanta Black Star reports, fans had expected not to see Meghan McCain on the show following her father’s death. It was natural for the host to take some time off to deal with the grief that she is feeling, especially given how close she was to the late Senator. However, viewers would also understandably be worried over her position on the show.
Although it would be highly unlikely for Meghan McCain to be replaced by the network as one of the hosts on “The View,” it might not need to. It’s quite possible that Meghan McCain herself could decide that she will not be returning, especially given how public the show is.
