First Lady Melania Trump is known for being a former supermodel, a career she pursued before meeting her husband Donald Trump. Recently, her first acting gig, a commercial for Aflac back in 2005, resurfaced on the internet.
Many who either like the First Lady or hate her may find that she once acted in a commercial back in 2005 for Aflac. This was in light of when Donald had Aflac employees meet him at the Oval Office back in 2018 to talk about tax cuts. It was then that he brought up his wife’s acting gig for their company’s commercial, praising Melania’s acting chops and saying how successful it was.
The commercial the future First Lady was in surfaced on the internet shortly after his remarks. The advertisement was titled “The Experiment” and the entire story in the ad was about a mad scientist and his assistant conducting a voice-swap experiment, swapping Melania’s voice for the company’s trademark duck. Melania has no lines in this commercial except towards the end when she begins to speak but the voice of the Aflac duck comes out and she looks down at her webbed feet in horror.
At the time, Melania expressed her excitement towards acting in a commercial for the first time. Speaking to AdWeek, she said how excited she was in making her acting debut in this advertisement. Melania also talked about Donald’s trademark phrase in “The Apprentice” which was “you’re fired.” “Maybe I will be known for saying Aflac,” said the First Lady at the time.
Melania and Donald recently marked their 15th wedding anniversary to which the White House shared images of to commemorate the milestone. But many probably noticed how the couple never posted anything about it on their own social media accounts. CNN reporter Kate Bennett, who is also an expert on the First Lady said that neither Melania nor Donald use the word “love” about each other due to being under constant public scrutiny.
Bennett said, “Being First Lady sucks in so many ways that I almost appreciate the way she’s been like, ‘I’m not going to hold his hand.’”
