In the midst of the constant controversies surrounding her husband, President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump is also taking some of the heat from netizens and the public. Now, a look into a new biography of her reveals how the future First Lady was like as a teenager.
Express reports some of the details from Kate Bennett’s biography of the First Lady titled “Free Melania: An unauthorized biography” that reveal just what Melania was like growing up until she became the First Lady of the United States. Melania was from Sevnica, Slovenia, but at 16 years old, she had to travel to her school in Ljubljana, which was an hour away by train. Bennett went on to describe that Melania’s determination got her accepted into the prestigious Srednja šola za oblikovanje in fotografijo secondary school, in which admissions were usually difficult.
Melania was also revealed not to socialize much after school during those years, labeled as a “giant nerd” but it was mainly because she had to catch a train home during the afternoon. However, even though it isolated her in that aspect, it also brought forward a sense of responsibility in the future First Lady. Bennett went on to write that Melania was always someone who sticks by the rules. She was “not one to hang out or change her schedule to grab a coffee or drink.”
Her parents would later rent a place for her and her sister Ines to stay in after a year of commuting for their convenience. Bennett wrote that she and her older sister were very responsible, and claimed that the sisters were not one for throwing big parties or have friends over their place, highlighting their very strong bond.
Meanwhile, Melania and Donald were previously under fire during the White House Halloween trick or treat event. The couple placed a chocolate bar on top of the head of a child dressed in a minion costume and laughed as they walked to attend to the other kids, giving out candy. The video was shared online and naturally, a storm of negative comments ensued about the couple, accusing the Trumps of bullying children.
However, some were quick to point out that the child dressed in a minion costume was laughing with them. Nevertheless, others commented that Halloween was a day that the Trumps were appropriate for, as they were the “scariest.”
