Purvis brings with her nearly 30 years’ experience working in post-acute skilled nursing, primarily as a clinical leader. She has served as a director of nursing and a licensed nursing home administrator in facilities ranging from 60 to 400 beds across several states. A seasoned leader, Purvis recently served three years as a national director of clinical practice for a 25,000-bed skilled nursing portfolio.
Purvis previously helped open two new skilled nursing facilities from the pre-construction phase through many successful years of operation in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. She places significant focus on fostering a highly engaged workforce, transparent leadership and a resident-centered culture. This philosophy has resulted in strikingly low employee turnover rates during her previous professional endeavors, with many of her original staff remaining in place over 20 years later.
“I am exceptionally excited for the future of Greystone Health Network with Melissa Purvis serving on the executive team,” said CEO of Greystone Healthcare Management Connie Bessler. “Her knowledge and expertise paired with her enthusiasm and strong leadership will surely serve her well in this role.”
Melissa earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Seton Hall University and a master’s degree in health systems management from Vanderbilt University. She is also certified in gerontological nursing, and is a strong proponent of its educational value for those working in long term care.
