Mercedes-AMG F1 Team to Switch from Puma to Adidas Starting in 2025

Mercedes-AMG F1 Team to switch from Puma to Adidas in 2025.

The Mercedes-AMG F1 Team will switch from Puma to Adidas in 2025, ending a partnership that began in 2012. Adidas will take over, marking a significant shift in the F1 apparel landscape.

Adidas to Take Over Mercedes-AMG F1 Team's Apparel from Puma After 2024 Season, Reports Bild

In a recent report by autoevolution, Bild, a German publication, has reported that Adidas is anticipated to assume control of Mercedes' operations after the current season, following Puma's partnership with the company since 2012.

Adidas would win substantially by signing Mercedes, especially considering that Puma has been Adidas' lifelong competitor since the Dassler brothers, who established the company in 1924, parted ways in 1948. Adolf Dassler remained in control of Adidas, while Rudolf Dassler founded Puma. Both organizations in Herzogenaurach, Germany, sponsor numerous top-tier football clubs, including Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Nike, an American brand, was awarded the contract to manufacture the German national football team's kits from 2027 onwards after Adidas relinquished the right to do so in March 2024.

For more than a decade, Puma has supplied apparel to Formula 1 teams. Before deciding to transition to the British brand Castore in 2023, the organization had intermittently collaborated with Mercedes' competitor, Red Bull, since 2007.

Since 2004, Ferrari has partnered with Puma, replacing the South Korean brand FILA. In addition to its F1-specific merchandise, the Italian brand also offers a lifestyle collection in collaboration with Puma.

Williams was added to Puma's roster of teams for 2024, and the company also manufactures merchandise for F1. Puma has lifestyle collections with BMW and Porsche in addition to its F1 teams.

Other fashion brands that have a presence in F1 include Kappa with Alpine, Castore with McLaren and Red Bull, and Boss with the recently rebranded RB team.

Mercedes Faces Sponsorship Shake-Up in 2025 Amid Lewis Hamilton's Departure to Ferrari

Mercedes' sponsorship changes for 2025 are anticipated to extend beyond Adidas' arrival.

Several Mercedes sponsors' futures are uncertain due to Lewis Hamilton's departure to Ferrari in 2025. Police Sunglasses, one of Hamilton's sponsors, is anticipated to depart the team. However, the future of their involvement in Formula One is still being determined, as Ferrari already has a sunglasses sponsor in Ray-Ban.

Swiss luxury watch brand IWC and global hotel chain Ritz Carlton are among the sponsors anticipated to depart Mercedes at the season's conclusion. Monster Energy Drinks, which had sponsored Mercedes since their return to F1 in 2010, departed after 2023 to join their adversaries, McLaren.

Tommy Hilfiger, a long-standing sponsor of Mercedes, has been involved with the team since shortly after Hamilton was appointed as an ambassador for the brand in 2018. However, his future at Mercedes is uncertain.

Hamilton frequently dons Hilfiger's apparel upon entering the F1 paddock and maintains a personal collection of the New York designer.

It was rumored that Hilfiger would follow Hamilton to Ferrari and reestablish his partnership with the Italian manufacturer, which included a period as the team's official team wear supplier from 1998 to 2002.

Nevertheless, it is improbable that Hilfiger will adopt this strategy, as Ferrari has an official partnership with Armani, a competitor.
