Michael Schumacher’s family has been reported have bought a new mansion worth 27 million pounds. The sprawling property is located on the Spanish island of Mallorca and it is said that it was the seven-timed F1 champ’s wife Corinna Betsch who made the purchase in July.
As EconoTimes reported last month, Michael Schumacher's wife bought the mansion so that their family can stay there during the holidays. The property was previously owned by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez
The mansion reportedly has two swimming pools, a large garden, a guest villa and a helipad. All in all, the estate measures 161,000 square feet and is known as Villa Yasmin.
To prove that Michael Schumacher’s family bought the property, a report from Swiss magazine L’Illustre stated that they were able to talk to the town’s mayor where Villa Yasmin is located and she reportedly confirmed the news.
“I can officially confirm Michael Schumacher is going to move in to our municipality and that everything is being prepared to welcome him,” mayor Katia Rouarch allegedly said.
Now, recent reports are refuting the story that Michael Schumacher and his family are moving to the mansion. Telegraph stated that Schumi’s manager denied the story published by the Swiss magazine.
Additionally, the manager, Sabine Kehm, said that since the story was also picked up by various international media outlets, they were compelled to issue a statement to straighten out the misunderstandings.
“The Schumacher family does not plan to move to Mallorca,” the spokeswoman told AFP via email. Mallorca’s mayor Katia Rouarch also changed her story and said that she did not confirm the Schumacher family’s move to the island. She insisted that she was only misquoted in her previous statements about Michael Schumacher’s supposed new mansion.
“Our mayor never said that Michael Schumacher is moving to Mallorca and that we are preparing security measures for his arrival,” a rep from the city council stated. “Perhaps it was a translation error." Meanwhile, Michael Schumacher’s health is still a mystery as his family continues to refuse sharing any information with the fans and the media.
