Michael Schumacher’s health is still being kept private by the family nearly six years after the F1 legend got into a horrific skiing accident on the French Alps. There are only a select few who are allowed to visit the icon, and it appears that the decision has angered Willi Weber.
Weber – Michael Schumacher’s former manager – recently slammed the family for keeping the information from the public and hints that something is amiss. Weber said that the millions of fans who have supported the 50-year-old through the years absolutely deserves to know what his situation is.
“[Corinna Schumacher] did not want to let me go to Michael’s bedside, because she probably knew I would instantly know what was going on. What’s happening is disrespectful and primitive,” Weber said. Rubens Barrichello, Michael Schumacher’s former teammate, was also denied access when he tried visiting the German racer, Express reported.
Michael Schumacher and his legacy on the grid
But rather than being vexed, Barrichello opted to respect the family’s decision and left it at that. Meanwhile, Mick Schumacher’s dream in continuing his father’s legacy is slowly taken form, with the young racer recently driving behind the wheel of the iconic Ferrari F2004. The car holds a special significance to Mick as it was the same vehicle that Michael Schumacher drove in 2004 when he won his seventh and final title under his name.
Michael Schumacher’s son and the journey he’s treading
A Schumacher racing in the grid on the wings of Ferrari is quite the treat to watch, spurring old memories to come bubbling up to the surface. Mick – determined to make a name of his own in the world of motorsports – has been working hard in recent years. And while the 20-year-old admits that achieving Michael Schumacher’s coveted record is an arduous journey, his determination has not been affected by the enormity of the task.
If anything, it seems that it only makes resolve that much stronger. Fans and analysts alike have been praying for Michael Schumacher’s recovery as him coaching his son how to navigate the grid will undoubtedly create stellar moments in the motorsports world. But it appears that the legend’s convalescence hasn’t progressed at all. Fortunately, the family is doing everything they can to nurse him back to health and to provide him with the best treatment that they can afford.
