Former United States First Lady Michelle Obama has continuously turned down the idea of running for office. However, an election expert has revealed that Michelle can even beat out Donald Trump in case she does decide to win.
Michelle is popular among the democratic party and is one of the bets to run for president in the upcoming elections this year. Although many have urged the former First Lady to run for office like her husband, she has continuously turned the idea down. There is still time for Michelle to announce her candidacy, and according to expert Allan Lichtman, she would have the best chance of winning against her fellow democrat candidates, and possibly even beating out Trump overall.
Lichtman told the Daily Caller that Michelle “comes out extraordinarily well with the Democratic rank and file.” He went on to explain that the former First Lady also exudes a lot of charisma, a lot of potential and a lot of “pizzazz” that the other candidates do not have. Although Senator Bernie Sanders is also a chosen favorite to run the race again, Lichtman says that he only appeals to one portion of the democrat population compared to Michelle, who has a wider reach.
Michelle was the United States First Lady from 2008 to 2016, and the experience she gained at that time could also give her an advantage. However, it does seem like a “long shot” due to the rules that could keep her from getting nominated, but according to Lichtman, it is not impossible. Still, many are hoping that the former FLOTUS would come back and this time, maybe run for President and beat out Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Express reports that the former First Lady shared a few photos on her Instagram, with a heartfelt caption looking back at the decade. The decade started with the Obamas in the White House, and she looks back at how their children, Sasha and Malia, have grown over the years, including their dog Bo. Michelle summed up her post with how much gratitude she has for the decade that has come and gone.
“So today, I’m thankful for all those memories over the past decade that helped me get to where I am. I’m thankful for the worries and anxieties, the failures and the false starts. And most of all, I’m thankful that after all of it, we came out whole” writes Michelle.
