Microsoft Mocks MacBook Pro, Says Surface Success Is Thanks To Terrible Apple Product

The battle between Microsoft and Apple has been fierce ever since the two companies became the biggest brands within the PC industry. This time, the maker of the Windows OS is mocking Apple for its disastrous MacBook Pro unit, which is considered by even some its core fan base as a weak product. Microsoft is crediting the rival unit with the skyrocketing success of the Surface lineup, in part due to the number of trade-ins.

In a recent blog post, Microsoft marketing executive Brian Hall wrote how the company’s trade-in program has been phenomenally successful thanks in part to the disappointment that Apple users felt with the underperforming MacBook Pro. Hall was quick to point out that professionals, the original target of the Apple’s Pro lineup, were the demographic that felt most disappointed by the weakened product.

"Our trade-in program for MacBooks was our best ever," the blog post reads. "The combination of excitement for the innovation of Surface coupled with the disappointment of the new MacBook Pro -- especially among professionals -- is leading more and more people to make the switch to Surface."

The most recent MacBook Pro has been highly criticized by reviewers and fans alike for being an incredibly overpriced and underpowered computer unit, Computerworld notes, with many saying that it’s far too expensive for the features. Apple has always sold premium quality as justification for the exuberant price tags of its products, and customers have come to expect that. However, it would seem that consumers and critics have had enough.

With regards to the trade-in program, Microsoft offered to slash as much as $650 off of their Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book units for customers who opted to trade their MacBook Pro or MacBook Air units in exchange. Then again, Microsoft did not release any data to back up their claims of a successful program, so users can only take Hall’s word that it was.
