When Microsoft released the Surface Book 2, it served to silence many critics as they were too busy collecting their jaws off the floor. This is why even though the Microsoft Surface Book 3 might still be a long way off, it’s already attracting a lot of rumors. Among these hearsays is the prospect of 4K displays (naturally), really expensive price points, and even more powerful features.
With the Surface Book 2 launching in 2017, TechRadar recently noted that it would be unlikely for the Microsoft Surface Book 3 to be released earlier than 2019. There have been suspicious rumors that it could be unveiled this October but, again, it’s highly unlikely that it would be.
In terms of the likely price point of the unit, retailing at $1,199 would not be out of the question. This is roughly how much the Surface Book 2 costs right now for the 13.5-inch version. The model with the bigger screen costs a whopping $2,499. One can only hope that the price of the next Surface Book would stay in that range, or better yet, go below it.
On the matter of the actual specs, since the product doesn’t technically exist yet, making any kind of concrete conclusion is obviously going to be impossible. On the other hand, as Tech Advisor notes, a few things are easy enough to predict.
For one thing, the Microsoft Surface Book 3 is going to feature next-generation Intel processors, or current-generation for when it’s actually released. It will also likely come with the most recent AMD or NVidia GPU from whichever generation the product actually is released in.
At the very least, the Microsoft Surface Book 3 should come with enough power to handle the upcoming generation of VR and AR experiences. If it isn’t compatible with the technology, it would be at a severe disadvantage.
