The flagship title of “Hello Games” will only be available for the PC and the “PlayStation 4,” which means that owners of “Xbox One” won’t be able to play “No Man’s Sky” when it is released next month. To help tide owners of the neglected console over, Microsoft has released “The Solus Project” for the Xbox One, which has a close resemblance to the much-anticipated universe sandbox game.
“The Solus Project” is one of the preview programs for the “Xbox One” that became a reality, but the alien-planet simulator presents the most interesting premise, according to Engadget. Basically, the earth is done for and humans had to leave their home planet in order to find another one, as one does.
With the backstory established, players take control of the protagonist who becomes shipwrecked on a distant planet while searching for a prospective home for the surviving humans. From there, all bets are off as the players are left to their own devices, as a post on Xbox Wire explains.
"You are completely and utterly alone on the deserted planet Gliese-6143-C," the post reads. "You will have to unravel the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of an ancient alien race, survive the harsh and hostile environment of the seemingly deserted planet and find a way to send a signal home, to finally save humanity."
As the marketing manager of the development company Petr Ciesarik put it, the game will involve elements of a survival simulator, where players will need to look for sustenance in order to survive. The game won’t involve a lot of hand-holding either, as the players will need to figure out how to solve puzzles, find food and generally survive on their own. There are no obvious goals, clear enemies or other people.
According to Hot Hardware, “The Solus Project” uses “Unreal Engine 4” and boasts impressive graphics. The game is available on the Xbox Store now and costs $15.
