Miranda Lambert released a new album with her band called Pistol Annies and some of the songs in the record gained attention due to their titles and lyrics. For people who know “The House That Built Me” singer, they will immediately recognize that the tracks are meant for or directed to her ex-husband, Blake Shelton.
As ABC News Radio pointed out, Miranda Lambert’s songs titled "Got My Name Changed Back," "Leavers Lullaby" and "When I Was His Wife" are obviously filled with shrewd references to her divorce from Gwen Stefani’s current boyfriend. The 34-year-old country songstress revealed that she actually got the idea to make the “Interstate Gospel” album with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley when she wrote, "When I Was His Wife."
They find it cool so it became their first official track in years. Referring to the song, ABC News quoted Miranda Lambert as saying, "I think it just set us up to get off and running. It opened the gate."
She added, "'When I Was His Wife' was an Annies title for sure. It came to me the day we wrote it. I didn't save it for the Annies, I just started writing it and I was like, 'Hold on, this is for the girls.'"
In any case, it was reported that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are not affected by Miranda Lambert’s tracks. In fact, the couple allegedly finds it funny and believed that the release of such songs only means that Miranda has not moved on from Blake Shelton yet.
"Gwen and Blake couldn’t care less about Miranda’s new song. They actually find it comical,” a source told Hollywood Life. “Gwen is very classy, and you will never see her respond to something like this.”
Meanwhile, the Pistol Annies has been scheduled to attend the 52nd CMA Awards on Nov. 14. They are also expected to sing one of their newly-released tracks and fans can watch their performance via ABC starting at 8 p.m.
