‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ original book author Random Riggs took viewers on a virtual tour of Tim Burton’s upcoming live-action adaptation in a newly released featurette.
According to Comingsoon.net, 20th Century Fox recently released a new featurette showing Riggs introducing viewers to the real Torenhof Castle in Brasschaat, north of Antwerp.
The film’s official trailers previewed the first look at the bizarre home serving as the setting to the upcoming adaptation of Riggs’ best-selling young adult book. The house, dubbed Castile Torenhof, was used for the production in Belgium. Riggs admitted that it was nearly identical to the house he had in mind when creating the book.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Riggs said, “[Director Tim Burton] took the ideas I had and made them bigger and vibrant and created a world you can lose yourself in... I love the way Tim Burton balances the playful with the dark.”
Riggs’ original novel was originally intended as a picture book featuring old photographs he collected. Critics praised his work for the creative use of vintage photographs and unique storytelling. It followed a boy who uses clues left behind by his grandather’s photographs to lead him to a large, abandoned, and magical orphanage on a Welsh island following a family tragedy.
It was previously reported by USA Today that sales of Riggs’ book grew tremendously after the release of Burton’s official trailer for the adaptation. Quirk Books’ Nicole De Jackmo confirmed, “We've seen a big pop in sales after Fox debuted the trailer on March 15 on Good Morning America.”
The independent publisher also announced plans of releasing two new books in September namely ‘The Art of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children’, which chronicled the making of the film, and ‘Miss Peregrine's Journal for Peculiar Children’ that features black and white images from Riggs’ book trilogy.
‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ is an upcoming adventure-fantasy film scheduled to premiere in theaters on September 30, 2016. It is directed by Tim Burton and written for the big screen by Jane Goldman.
The adaptation stars Asa Butterfield, Eva Green, and Samuel L. Jackson. It is produced by Chernin Entertainment, Scope Pictures, St. Petersburg Clearwater Film Commission, and Tim Burton Productions. It is distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation in the United States.
