Although the anime has been one of the most filler-free shows in the industry, it would seem that “My Hero Academia” Season 3 Episode 20 is going to step into this territory. However, the anime is not simply doing this as an attempt to drag out the season. The episode is actually tied to a charity event in Japan, which the country’s TV stations are supposed to participate in.
“My Hero Academia” Season 3 Episode 20 will be titled “Save the World with Love” and as the preview notes, it will be a completely original story from the property. Normally, when anime programs say this, it actually means that they are going to throw in some fillers to make the season seem longer. However, the case with “My Hero Academia” is different.
An explanation as to why “My Hero Academia” Season 3 Episode 20 is going to be a filler was provided over at Reddit, wherein the reasoning for the original episode was revealed. It would seem that the news has upset a lot of fans, especially those who have come to love the show’s brisk pace of storytelling.
“Next week is the nation-wide Japanese charity event "24h TV - Love Saves The Earth", in which every TV station changes their program and sends stuff related to the charity event instead. Most normal programs don't run (i.e. Detective Conan anime, which has the timeslot right after MHA), but MHA instead decided to air a special episode that ties-in with the charity event and the movie,” the post reads.
Aside from the fact that the motivations behind the filler episode are admirable, “My Hero Academia” Season 3 Episode 20 is also going to be tied to the property’s movie, “My Hero Academia: Two Heroes,” Comicbook notes. It’s unclear as to how this is going to work, so fans will need to wait until the episode airs on Aug. 25 to find out.
