Jaylen Brown is currently trending in the NBA community because of his recent statement regarding how the Boston Celtics will perform next year. In a recent podcast that Brown attended, the Celtics guard said he’s confident they’re making to the finals, ESPN reported.
“Oh, we’re getting to the finals. No question about it,” Jaylen Brown said.
While the statement may be premature given the regular season hasn’t even started, there is some truth to Jaylen Brown’s claim. Last year, the Boston Celtics still managed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals and battled it out with Lebron James for seven games even when their core players were sidelined.
And now that Lebron has signed with the Lakers, the Celtics immediately became one of the favorites to dominate the east. Of course, people can argue that there are still the Philadelphia 76ers, the Indiana Pacers, and the Toronto Raptors to deal with but the Celtics have the deepest roster among all four of these teams. And Jaylen Brown is one of the most athletic players in the league right now, heavily contributing to their recent playoff run.
The Celtics guard also did a lot to the team in order to bring them head to head with the Cavs last playoffs. Jaylen Brown averaged 18 points per game after the regular season ended and was quite adept on both ends of the floor.
And now that Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward have recovered from their injuries, the offensive prowess of the Boston Celtics just took a massive upswing. As for the chemistry among the cores and supports, Brad Stevens has proven time and again that he can bring together these many talents and have them play as a single unit. Stevens even managed to turn Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum as their cores when their two best players got sidelined.
But again, a lot can happen between the regular season and the playoffs. Injuries, trades, and other unforeseen factors can affect a team’s chances of getting into the finals. Still, it seems Jaylen Brown is confident that the Boston Celtics will be able to dominate their conference and a lot of people are agreeing with the guard.
