Getting shot is often a good enough reason for most people to take some time off from work, but it seems that this is not an option for Dwayne "King" Pride (Scott Bakula). The hardened veteran is staying on despite rumors that he might be leaving in the middle of “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5. This is good because Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) had to appear in the season premiere to give advice on how to find Pride’s shooter.
As Cinemablend reports, the season premiere for “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 saw Gibbs making an appearance in a rather unexpected series crossover. This was necessitated when the New Orleans team was struggling to find the person who shot Pride. A clip of this scene was posted on the show’s official Twitter account, where Gibbs gave rather unexpected advice.

This eventually helped in tracking down the shooter. However, perhaps the NCIS head should have given more details as to what should be done right after accomplishing this task. As for Pride, many fans were afraid that the character was going to be leaving in the middle of “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5. He was just shot, after all, so a little time off while he recuperated would not be the end of the world.
However, as Scott Bakula noted in a recent interview with TV Insider, Pride is not exactly the kind of guy that takes it easy. Taking a break is just not in his vocabulary. This means that viewers will still see the character in “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5, for better or for worse.
"That’s just how he’s wired," Bakula told the publication. "The city means everything to him, and he cares about everyone. It’s more important to him than his own life. It’s extreme, but it’s true."
