“NCIS” season 16 was almost canceled according to rumors but fortunately, CBS finally cleared the termination reports when it officially announced its renewal in April. Kelly Kahl, CBS president for entertainment, said that they did not even think twice about their decision.

“It’s pretty simple – viewers everywhere love NCIS,” Deadline quoted Kahl as saying. “This show speaks to viewers of all ages, in all parts of the country and around the world. NCIS’ amazing characters and terrific storytelling result in some of TV’s most passionate fans.”

The report added that Mark Harmon signed a new deal with “NCIS” season 16 so he will still be part of the show as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He will also remain as the long-running procedural program’s executive producer.

Confirmed Cast Members

Besides Mark Harmon, Sean Murray (Timothee McGee), David McCallum (Dr. Donald Mallard), Emily Wickersham (Eleanor Bishop), Maria Bello (Dr. Jacqueline Sloane) Brian Dietzen (Dr. Jimmy Palmer) and Rocky Carroll (Leon Vance) are returning for “NCIS” season 16. It should be noted that Pauley Perrette (Abby Sciuto) has been replaced by Diona Reasonover (Kasie Hines).

Commenting on Harmon’s new deal, Kahl stated, “We’re thrilled he is returning as the centerpiece of the show. We could not be more excited for ‘NCIS’ 16th season.” Upon signing the new deal, Harmon was reported to have received a salary increase from CBS. He is now one of the highest-paid actors on TV, Forbes reported.

A special guest is also coming to “NCIS” season 16. Fans can see Joe Spano again as he comes back to give life to his Tobias Fornell character. The actor confirmed his appearance in the program through social media.

When is it Coming?

Brian Dietzen informed fans that they already started filming “NCIS” season 16 on July 16. CBS also announced that the new installment is set to premiere on Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. The network revealed the date via Twitter.
