If there’s one thing that “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 will bring, it’s more violence. The previous installment already hinted that the DEA will be going to war following the torture and brutal killing of Kiki Camarena (Michael Pena), RadioTimes reported.
“Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 will be telling the events that occurred when the United States government approved Operation Leyenda. This is the largest and most extensive investigation that the DEA has ever launched, a testament to the desire of Uncle Sam to bring to justice those who murdered agent Camerana.
In 1989, Felix Gallardo (Diego Luna) was finally arrested and remains in prison to this date. It’s still unclear whether or not “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 will conclude with the arrest of the kingpin. If so, then the second entry will be setting up the evolution of the Mexican drug syndicate that will result in the rise of El Chapo (Alejandro Edda) and the Sinaloa Cartel, BBC reported.
Returning to the events that will happen in “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2, it’s expected that DEA agent Walt Breslin (Scoot McNairy) will have his boys gunning down drug traffickers in Mexico. Again, Operation Leyenda has already been hinted in the first season of Narcos through the dialogue exchange of Agent Pena (Pedro Pascal) and Agent Murphy (Boyd Holbrook).
Murphy previously said that those who killed Kiki “paid with their blood” after the United States government put its foot down and ramped up its efforts in capturing the agent’s killers. It’s important to remember, however, that Breslin isn’t based on a real DEA operative as has been confirmed by Agent James Kuykendall. Thus, “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 will be the first entry for the series to feature a fictional main character.
Regarding its release date, Netflix has yet to confirm anything on this regard. However, we do know that “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 will be returning this year so expect it to land in the tail end of 2019, perhaps around November since it’s at this month that the first entry was released.
