On Monday, CMT announced that the ABC-axed show “Nashville” will premiere on the network for its midseason premiere, as well as for Season 6. According to the network, the show will experience a time jump, which is 10 weeks following the events of the Season 4 finale.
An official synopsis obtained by TVLine read, “Deacon will help Daphne with a school project, but Daphne feels unmotivated. Juliette gives Maddie unsolicited advice about a song. Scarlett and Gunnar receive news about the baby.”
The Inquisitr reported that Season 5 will debut on CMT on June 1, with Season 6 to follow early next year. But there have been speculation that “Nashville” will no longer be extended, if we based it on the signs.
Purportedly, lead star Hayden Panettiere, who plays Juliet in the series, will be bowing out from the show after Season 6. TV Guide also said that the number of episodes ordered in Season 6 was dramatically reduced by half, which is 16 episodes instead of the usual full season 22-23 episodes. Moreover, the show saw its ratings slipped significantly, as Variety noted that the show’s fans didn’t follow “Nashville” when it made a move from ABC to CMT last year. However, the ratings were still considerably significant “for a cable channel.”
The first half of Season 5 was an exit platform for Connie Britton, who formerly top-billed the series as Rayna James. Britton’s character died in the series, which also saw the introduction of new characters Rachel Bilson and Kaitlin Doubleday in the second half, and the return of Jeff Nordling (“Big Little Lies”) as Brad Maitland for the remainder of the season.
