Naver Corp.'s live streaming platform V Live, which features K-pop celebrities broadcasting live on the internet allowing fans from around the globe to chat with them, has accumulated over 100 million downloads globally.
Naver said the service has 85 percent of visitors from overseas and is available online, as well as on Google's Android and Apple's iOS platforms.
According to Naver, the stellar performance was due to the presence of the novel coronavirus pandemic d with cutting-edge technology, such as the streaming of 4K content on mobile platforms.
South Korea's top internet portal operator has joined hands with local talent agencies to provide unique content, such as K-pop dance instructions and live streaming exclusive events.
The number of live concert shows by K-pop stars on the Navber platform jumped by 1.4 percent on-year this year, with the number of fan meetings jumping more than twofold. Paying members also increased by 1.9 times this year, compared to last year.
