Nestle recalls Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Photo by: Nestle USA Press Release

Nestle USA issued a nationwide recall for its Toll House Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Fudge Filling. Major retail store chains in the United States, such as Walmart and Publix, have also posted a notice about the recall as they pull out the affected products.

Nestle said it is calling back its Toll House cookie dough products as they may have pieces of white plastic in them. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) also posted a recall notice earlier this week and indicated that the affected batch of the said ready-to-bake refrigerated items were manufactured from June to September.

The Swiss food and beverage producer initiated the recall after being notified by some customers about the presence of white plastic in the Toll House cookie dough. Then again, Nestle said that they had not received any report of injuries or illnesses due to the issue, but while this is the case, it has immediately taken action as a preventive measure.

“We are working with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on this voluntary recall and will cooperate with them fully,” Nestle USA stated in a press release regarding the recall. “The quality, safety and integrity of our products remain our number one priority. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail.”

As per The Sacramento Bee, the affected cookie dough items are the 8-ounce packs bearing the UPC Code 050000429912. Customers were advised to return the product if they saw this code on the box. They should bring it to the store where it was purchased to get a full refund or replacement.

Customers were also told to contact Nestle USA at this number - 800-681-1676 if they have any questions. Customer service is open during office hours from Monday to Friday. It was also posted that the recalled Toll House Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Fudge Filling was distributed in the continental United States and Puerto Rico.
