DURHAM, N.C., April 02, 2017 -- The veterinarians and staff at New Hope Animal Hospital will be working together with the Coalition to Unchain Dogs as part of their 10-year anniversary in a special event. Their upcoming fence build will allow typically chained dogs the ability to explore their yard safely without a leash. This special event will take place on April 23rd and will bring together supporters and staff in a worthwhile cause improving the lives of area dogs. The Coalition to Unchain Dogs has unchained 103 dogs, provided medical and wellness care to over 1600 pets, helped 243 pets stay with families, and provided spay and neuter services to 311 dogs and 44 cats.
Many dogs and their owners can use assistance. The Coalition to Unchain Dogs are dedicated to improving “the welfare of dogs living in under-served communities as well as dogs continuously chained outdoors by offering information and free services including wellness care, spay/neuter, vaccinations, and fences.” The Coalition to Unchain Dogs hopes to bolster the connection between pet owners and beloved canine companions. They offer many ways to support their cause. Individuals interested in participating may make a donation, volunteer, or become an advocate. New Hope Animal Hospital is among its supporters, which include PetSmart Charities and the ASPCA.
The Coalition to Unchain Dogs has been a New Hope Animal Hospital client for 10 years. The celebration of the Coalition’s 10-year anniversary takes place on April 23rd, when the staff of New Hope Animal Hospital, members of the Coalition to Unchain Dogs, and Durham residents and supporters will help to build new enclosures for local dogs in need.
“We are excited to work with The Coalition to Unchain Dogs during the upcoming community event to support the needs of dogs and their owners,” said Dr. Soren Windram. “The April 23rd fence build allows our vets and staff to get involved with the community and the Coalition in creating healthier spaces for dogs to explore. Feel free to reach out to us or the Coalition to find out more. You can also support this great cause by donating, becoming an advocate, or volunteering in other ways.”
