Technology YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead predicts that the Nintendo Switch 2, powered by Samsung's 8nm process, will match the PlayStation 4 Pro's docked performance, featuring 12GB of memory and enhanced graphical capabilities.
Nintendo Switch 2's Docked Performance Poised to Match PS4 Pro, Says Tech YouTuber
Moore's Law is Dead, a reputable technology YouTuber, asserts that the Switch successor will utilize the rumored Samsung 8nm process node and likely have 12GB of memory in his most recent video. The YouTuber explains in the video that the misconception that Nintendo does not care about efficacy is unfounded. They do; however, if it is accomplished, Nintendo is content with achieving a specific performance target for a console cycle.
Wccftech reported a few days ago that the performance of the processor inside the Nintendo Switch 2 would likely be nowhere near that of the Xbox Series S. The YouTuber seems to endorse this assertion in the video, even though it may be comparable to Microsoft's entry-level console except lesser frame rates.
Comparing the rumored performance of the Switch 2 to that of the PS4 Pro in docked mode, the performance of the Switch successor will likely be comparable on account of the probable specifications of the platform. The YouTuber also compares the CPU to the previous-generation Xbox One X from Microsoft.
"PS4 Pro is a good way to characterize docked Switch 2 performance", Moore's Law is Dead writes. In another post under the video about docked performance, the YouTuber wrote, "PS4 Pro would be a better approximation, but the XSS isn't that different besides the CPU due to its gimped memory system."
Nintendo Switch 2 to Edge Out Steam Deck in Handheld Performance with Superior Graphics
The YouTuber asserts that the handheld performance of the Switch 2 will likely surpass that of the Steam Deck in terms of image quality, light ray tracing, and battery life, albeit with a slightly diminished level of performance compared to Valve's platform.
"Even if they [Nintendo] cheap out on the clock speeds and cooling here, I would still say it's about 20-30% faster than the Steam Deck GPU but the CPU is a bit weaker for gaming," Moore's Law is Dead explains. He added, "So again if the Steam Deck is doing 720p low at 40, I think this will do like 720p high with light ray tracing at 30."
Although Nintendo has not made an official declaration regarding the successor to the Switch, recent conjecture indicates that the platform may debut in early 2020. As previously claimed by Moore's Law is Dead a few days ago, Nintendo will most likely price the Switch 2 between $399 and $499.
