Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak reported renewed Ukrainian attacks Friday on three refineries and a gas-chemical complex as Moscow and Washington worked to arrange trilateral talks with Ukraine.
Novak told TASS one facility sustained limited damage and said Russian air defenses had performed effectively.
The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, a day before Novak's remarks, that people familiar with Ukrainian military operations expected the pause to persist through the U.S. midterm elections, with a chance it would stretch later into November.
Speaking to Vesti, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said U.S. President Donald Trump had repeatedly asked Kyiv to stop attacks on Russian refineries and accused Ukraine of disregarding those requests. Ushakov said he believed Ukraine probably would not have struck without European support.
Ushakov said Moscow and Washington were working to agree on a date for trilateral talks with Ukraine, but gave no date.
