“Destiny’s” “Crucible” is the game’s player versus player mode where players from all over the world can meet up, have fun, and blast each other in the face. Usually, this is a great thing, but it does depend on a lot of factors that all boil down to keeping the feature balanced. As such, when there is something like the “Hunters” in the “Crucible” that are so overpowered the class virtually outranks every other class in terms of use, “Bungie” has no choice but to bring back balance.
VG247 reported that “Bungie” updated “Destiny” during E3, with a focus on nerfing the “Hunters” class. As to be expected, this caused no small amount of ruffled feathers and a lot of players who favored “Hunters” for obvious reasons are complaining that they could have just made the other classes more powerful to fix the balance issues. “Bungie” responds by saying that if they did this, the game would become far too chaotic and lethal, thus robbing players who aren’t as good with the game but still want to play a great experience.
Looking at the numbers, it also can’t be denied that “Hunters” are the most used classes by a significant margin simply because they offer the best chance at taking out the opposing team. Twinfinite highlighted a chart that showcases the discrepancy regarding the frequency of use among the different classes. The chart clearly shows that “Hunters” are favored far more than any other class, particularly the subclasses; “Bladedancer” and “Gunslinger.”
Interestingly enough, the chart also shows that the once king of the “Crucible,” “The Sunbreaker” is at the very bottom. Perhaps with the most recent changes in abilities among the classes will bump up its position and allow players to be able to use multiple classes without seeing huge differences in their level of lethality. Many would undoubtedly appreciate not being outclassed in more just skills.
