Although there are a bunch of other virtual reality headsets from different brands being sold right now, only two are the most recognizable; ‘Oculus Rift” and “HTC Vive.” Both have their advantages and disadvantages, with their followers focusing mostly on the advantages of their choice and the disadvantages of the spare. “Oculus Rift” is intent on removing any weakness in its rig, however, by offering VR technology that can turn an entire room into a VR zone to play in.
According to Engadget, fans of “HTC Vive” will no longer be able to say that their device is better than the “Oculus Rift” because it allows them to play with room-scale VR. Thanks to the updated support with “Oculus Home” that enables it to have a total of four tracking sensors, the headset can now allow users to view an entire room as part of the VR experience.
Before fans of the device rejoice with abandon, however, it should be noted that all “Oculus Rift” headsets that are already in the possession of owners or on store shelves still only have one tracking sensor. As of yet, there’s no way to acquire the extra sensors without buying another unit that already has four equipped, which means that existing owners still wouldn’t be able to use the room-scale feature.
The good news is that the headsets that are equipped with the sensors have been tested thoroughly, along with the “Oculus Touch,” and the results have been reported as promising. Speaking of which, TechCrunch also released a piece about the controller itself, which the site describes as having a better response than what the “Vive” offers.
More than that, it would appear that the “Oculus Touch” is also easier to setup. As such, even novices stand a chance of getting through the experience without much hassle.
