Manga fans have been waiting for this moment, and the first full-on battle in Wano is finally happening. The Straw Hats are matched against some very powerful opponents with Sanji likely taking on King in “One Piece” chapter 989.
‘One Piece’ chapter 989 spoilers, predictions: Whole Cake Island battle continues in Onigashima?
Sanji turned out to be the one to actually save Momonosuke from the stage where he was supposed to be executed. However, his efforts also caught the attention of one of the most fearsome members of the Beasts Pirates. King did not waste time before attacking Sanji, and this encounter is likely one of the highlights in “One Piece” chapter 989.
The first moments of their fight do not look good for Sanji. King transformed into his pteranodon form almost piercing a hole through Sanji’s belly before throwing the Straw Hat so forcefully that it concerned Luffy. Sanji was already in his Raid Suit and, hopefully, he has more tricks up his sleeves to regain the advantage in “One Piece” chapter 989.
There are questions among fans on whether or not Sanji has enough strength to defeat or at least match King in combat by himself. Whether he is getting help or not, “One Piece” chapter 989 might show Sanji recovering from King’s attack and attempting a few more moves to level the playing field.
On the other hand, the rest of the Straw Hats also got their hands full now that Big Mom is onto them. On the bright side, Franky managed the drive the Kurosai FR-U IV into Big Mom. It apparently knocked out the Yonko while also saving Nami. But with the Big Mom Pirates likely in Onigashima already, Luffy’s crew is unlikely free from combat duties in “One Piece” chapter 989. It would also be interesting to see Jinbe’s first fighting actions in Wano as an official member of the Straw Hat crew.
‘One Piece’ chapter 989 release date delay due to COVID-19?
“One Piece” chapter 989 will not be part of the Weekly Shonen Jump issue arriving in a few days. A report said the delay was due to COVID-19, but fans should take this with a large pinch of salt. The next chapter is confirmed to be released on Sept. 6 suggesting the delay is only caused by the routine break that the “One Piece” staff usually takes after a series of big chapters.
