The “One Piece” anime series is, technically, not going on any break. However, it has inserted a couple of filler episodes that put the Wano story arc temporary on hold. Unfortunately, fans are not coming back yet to Wano in “One Piece” episode 896.
'One Piece' episode 896: Will it feature Wano?
Many fans are probably wondering when Wano arc is going to be continued. Since the anime series rarely takes breaks, the main story arc is likely to return in a couple of weeks. The filler is confirmed to end in “One Piece” episode 896, which means Wano arc will pick up the pace in episode 897. If no hiatus is going to be announced, that could be released on Aug. 11.
Last Sunday’s episode introduced the band of bounty hunters under the command of Cidre, who is also known as the Carbonic King. The installment opens with the Straw Hats and the Thousand Sunny under heavy fire because of Cidre’s fighters. “One Piece” episode 896 will end this fight with Luffy slated to face Cidre directly.
'One Piece' episode 896 spoilers: What to expect
The filler arc’s main antagonist clearly has a wide network of resources and extremely capable subordinates, so fans should not underestimate him. On a good note, it also means that “One Piece” episode 896 could be a fun installment even though it is just a filler. The side story serves as an opener for the upcoming movie titled “Stampede” that will be released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the anime series.
“Stampede” revolves around the Pirates Fest where all the biggest names in the pirate world are gathered for a series of activities tailored for them. The main event, however, is the treasure hunting challenge that would award the winner of some fortune that Pirate King Gol D Roger has been keeping. It was already revealed that Hancock was the one who told Luffy about the Pirates Fest.
Hancock invited the Straw Hats captain to come to the Pirates Fest, but they got distracted by Cidre’s attacks that will be continued in “One Piece” episode 896. The conclusion to this filler arc for “Stampede” will air on Sunday, Aug. 4 while the animated film will premiere in Japan on Aug. 9.
