“One Punch Man” Season 2 will, finally, premiere this coming April. There is a lot to look forward in the second installment as new characters, both heroes and villains, will be added in the show’s growing cast.
What’s more, other side characters will also be rejoining “One Punch Man” Season 2 and their personalities will be deeply explored throughout the course of the installment. Aside from this, however, fans want to know how exactly did Saitama got his powers.
Sure, Cape Baldy has already explained to Genos that he attained his incredible strength by doing 100 pushups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and going for a 10 kilometer run every single day. But, no one really buys that, especially those in the Hero Association. While this isn’t set in stone yet, it’s possible that the limiter concept will be introduced in “One Punch Man” Season 2.
In the webcomic, the limiter has been coined by Dr. Genus, who is the renowned scientist that was the head of the now-dissolved House of Evolution. Genus posits that every being has a certain limiter that obstructs them from attaining power far more than they could handle. The researcher adds that placing too much power on a being – be it human or monster – will cause them to lose their sanity, which brings into question why Saitama hasn’t exhibited such mental collapse. Could it be that he isn’t actually human or monster but is something else entirely? “One Punch Man” Season 2 may provide some answer to this.
But, looking back at the first installment, the mystery of Saitama’s power has already been hinted by someone within the Hero Association. This can be recalled when Saitama destroyed every record the organization has on their physical exam. “It’s as if a god resides within his body,” an official of the Associated said. So, could it be that the limiter doesn’t apply to Saitama because he’s actually a god and is completely unaware of it? Perhaps. In “One Punch Man” Season 2, there’s also another character expected to surpass his limiter.
The said character is Garou, the villain for the second installment. In the webcomic, Garou also displayed a tremendous amount of power although he’s still not on Saitama’s level. His evolution in strength would usually progress when he’s pushed on the precipice of death. If the limiter concept makes its way in “One Punch Man” Season 2, it will probably be explained by Gyoro Gyoro given that the monster has studied the phenomenon extensively.
