Saitama took the internet by storm when "One Punch Man" came out as an animated series in 2015. The main character's daily regimen of 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10-kilometer run has found its way into motivational quotes that focus on perseverance. Unfortunately, it has been at least three years since the first season's original run with “One Punch Man” season 2 nowhere in sight.
With a first-season run of 12 episodes and six original video animations (OVA), not counting the original webcomic and the published manga, “One Punch Man” may seem like it has a lot of material to keep the fanbase busy until “One Punch Man” season 2 gets released.
While three years after the first season's release may be too long a time to wait for some fans, a second season has been confirmed to be in the works since 2016. Chikara Sakura was also confirmed to be directing the series as of December 2017. Still, a definite release date for "One Punch Man" season 2 has yet to be officially announced.
With no definite release date nearly three years since its first season aired, "One Punch Man" season 2 may seem like it is treading in rocky waters. But such negative concerns can be allayed by Viz Media's recent announcement that they have secured the rights to "One Punch Man."
For dedicated fans, the One Punch Man Serious School Festival event expected to happen on Aug. 12 may have serious announcements regarding the immediate future of “One Punch Man” season 2. The event has already started selling tickets and looks to be a promising time to learn more about Saitama and his continuing adventures. A month's worth of wait for an announcement regarding the second season is not that bad considering the recent acquisition of rights to the series happened only last May.
