In a significant design evolution, the upcoming OnePlus 13 is rumored to feature a quad-curved display and substantial camera upgrades. This development follows the recent trend of innovative display technologies and hints at a notable departure from previous models' designs. The anticipated changes include shifting from the traditional circular camera layout to a new vertical stacking, alongside performance enhancements powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.
Quad-Curved Displays May Define Next-Gen OnePlus and OPPO Flagships, Hints at Widespread Design Evolution
In a recent exchange on X (formerly Twitter), reliable tipster Yogesh Brar suggested that OnePlus and sister company OPPO may use a "micro quad-curved panel" for their upcoming flagships. This tweet responded to a claim that OPPO's next flagship, the Find X8 Ultra, will feature a Micro Quad-Curved display.
This buzzword likely refers to a display with subtle curves on all four sides. We're used to curved side edges, but imagine those curves extending to the top and bottom, resulting in a seamless, almost bezel-less look. While the functional benefits may be minimal, the WOW factor is undeniable.
HUAWEI dabbled in this territory a few years ago, and more recently, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra launched with a similar curved display called "All Around Liquid Display." It appears that "micro quad-curved" may be OPPO's name. Smartphone companies want to outdo each other with flashy names for their latest design quirks.
According to Android Authority, this is all speculation for now. Still, if Brar's hints are correct, the OnePlus 13 could be the first to feature this visually distinctive design in the United States. Interestingly, the tweet indicates that some mid-range OnePlus devices may also receive this treatment. While it's unlikely that this includes the Nord series, the tipster said he wouldn't be surprised if this new design language makes its way down to the OnePlus 13R, assuming one exists.
The OnePlus 13 launch is still too far away, but you can expect the usual performance improvements and an upgrade to the camera. Previous rumors suggested that the OnePlus 13's design would undergo significant changes, including removing the circular camera module from the side frame.
OnePlus 13 Rumors Swirl: Major Camera Redesign and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Power Expected
In a February report, rumors about the upcoming OnePlus 13 smartphone are circulating, with expected changes to the camera design and performance capabilities.
It's only been a month since OnePlus launched its flagship phone, the OnePlus 12. Rumors about the OnePlus 13 have already started circulating. The smartphone is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Exciting changes are scheduled for the upcoming smartphone, particularly in the camera and design departments. Recent leaked renders show that the camera module will undergo significant transformations.
According to the OnePlus Club, leaked details about the upcoming OnePlus 13 reveal some exciting changes, particularly in the camera design. Instead of the standard circular layout, the rear cameras will reportedly be vertically stacked in the top-left corner. Furthermore, the central camera will have a wider ring around it, providing a subtle aesthetic touch. Leaked renders also show Hasselblad branding on the camera module.
Next-Gen Leap: OnePlus 13 Eyes Major Camera and Chipset Upgrades Amidst Speculation
This departure from the OnePlus 12 series represents a significant design shift. Rumors from Digital Chat Station, a reliable source on Weibo, hinted at such changes, implying that the redesigned camera module could become a reality.
Furthermore, there is talk of potential camera technology improvements, given that OnePlus is owned by Oppo, which is well-known for its impressive cameras. Oppo's flagship Find X7 Ultra features a unique 50-megapixel primary sensor and two 50-megapixel periscope cameras, one offering 6x optical zoom. It is speculated that the OnePlus 13 will inherit some of these advancements.
On the performance front, the OnePlus 13 is expected to use Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. This would be a natural progression from the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Smart Pikachu said the OnePlus 13 could keep its 2K screen and include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for security.
The OnePlus 13 is expected to launch later this year. Following the precedent set by the OnePlus 12's launch in China before a global unveiling, the OnePlus 13 will be released first in China, followed by India.
However, it should be noted that all of these details are currently speculative. The true nature of the OnePlus 13's features and specifications will be revealed once the company officially announces its next flagship device.
