The newest addition to the “Nintendo 3DS” role-playing game lineup has been revealed and it is directed by the person who helmed the first three “Final Fantasy” titles; saving “Square Enix,” then “Square Soft.” Koichi Ishii directed the first Japanese giant of a title and helped save “Square Soft” from the brink of bankruptcy, thus establishing his reputation. His new title is called “Ever Oasis,” and it is coming to the “Nintendo” hand-held device.
Kotaku wrote about the game’s mechanics, where the protagonist is called Tethu. Tethu can be either male or female, and he/she will need to save his/her older brother from the title’s antagonists; the forces of Chaos. One of the things that players will need to do is build settlements to use as a base in order to start his quest from. The game was announced during the “Treehouse” live streaming.
Aside from the original three “Final Fantasy’ games, Ishii also directed the “Mana” series and he was actually the one who created the lovable mascots, “chocobos” and “moogles.” This time around, “Ever Oasis” will feature settlement building as a big part to completing the game by attracting other characters that will help Tethu with his quest.
The town will feature shops and other buildings with which players will be able to draw resources from to use for the quests ahead. As for the quests and gameplay itself, battles and puzzles are still huge aspects to the game, as can be expected from an Ishii-directed title. Character traits and skills will even be used to solve certain puzzles, thus allowing for more involvement instead of just making them cannon fodder.
VG247 described the game as having an Egyptian-inspired setting and character design, which is not far from the truth as the game seems set in a desert landscape. There’s no word as of yet as to when the game will come out.
