Blizzard Entertainment is finally launching the “Overwatch 2” PvP beta this week. While some players will be lucky to get an invite directly from the developer, others will have a chance through a Twitch Drops campaign this week.
In an FAQ posted for the “Overwatch 2” PvP beta, Blizzard revealed a four-hour Twitch stream campaign where fans can earn codes to join the beta test. There will be more than 200 participating streamers, including Asmongold, Fextralife, Pokimane, xQcOW, and Blizzard’s own PlayOverwatch channel. Fans can find the full list in this post.
Players will only have to watch the entire “Overwatch 2” PvP beta stream under the Overwatch category on steam from the listed streamers on Wednesday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 a.m. PT. “You will be eligible for Twitch drops after watching any participating channel for four hours,” Blizzard said. “Your watch time will accrue no matter what stream you are watching.”
Fans will also have to link their Battle.net and Twitch accounts to earn beta access from the drop. Blizzard noted, however, that they can redeem the beta drop if their account has an “Overwatch” license. But those who have yet to purchase the first game can join later on via a free trial that will be available through the duration of the PvP beta.
Aside from the Twitch drops, fans can also opt-in for the “Overwatch 2” PvP beta through this signup page. The beta will begin on Tuesday, April 26, at 11 a.m. PT. Fans who will be selected to join the beta via the opt-in process will receive a welcome email from Blizzard at the same time. “While players selected initially should all receive access on the first day, we may extend invitations to more players at later periods in this test,” the developer added.
Similar to joining via the Twitch drops, joining through the opt-in process will also require having the first game. The “Overwatch 2” beta test starting this week will be available on PC only, but Blizzard plans on expanding it to consoles in future tests.
