Sony’s new generation console, PS5, is still difficult to find more than nine months after it launched. The good news, however, is that gamers are reportedly getting another chance to purchase them on Tuesday, Aug. 17, from GameStop and PS Direct.
PS5 restock at GameStop
The reported GameStop restock was tipped by TechRadar’s Matt Swider, who has been one of the reliable sources of PS5 restock. Citing “exclusive sources,” Swider reports that GameStop will have available units on Tuesday for customers in the United States.
This is going to be the first time GameStop will restock PS5 consoles over the last couple of weeks. While the date of the restock has been specified, the exact time when the consoles will go live is not confirmed as of this writing. But gaming fans can refer to the timing of GameStop’s latest PS5 restock, which went live at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET.
Gamers hoping to buy a PS5 unit might want to monitor the GameStop website earlier than 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET. It is also advisable to keep an eye on Swider’s Twitter page, where he provides real-time updates whenever a PS5 restock goes live.
There is a small catch in the anticipated PS5 restock via GameStop, though. The same report says the retailer is going to offer PS5 bundles. It means gaming fans might have to buy the console at a slightly higher cost with games that they either do not like or already have. But considering how it is still so difficult to find the console without relying on overpriced units from scalpers, PlayStation fans may want to consider buying a PS5 bundle instead of not having the new-generation console at all.
PS5 restock at PS Direct
Sony, through PS Direct, is also confirmed to reopen its PS5 online store pages on Tuesday. It appears that Sony has sent out email alerts on Monday about the Aug. 17 restock that will go live at 12 p.m. PT / 3 p.m. ET.
PS Direct will have an invite-only PS5 restock tomorrow at 12 PM PT (August 17th). There might be a public queue in the afternoon around 2 PM PT https://t.co/HgMJ7wrqa3

PS Direct is obviously one of the best ways to get a PS5 console for the right price. The online store is also known for shipping orders shortly after transactions are completed. The caveat with this PS5 restock, though, is that it is an invite-only event. That means anyone who did not receive an email is unlikely to get a chance to join the queue for the PS5 restock on Tuesday.
