LONG BEACH, N.Y. and TORONTO, March 01, 2016 -- Planet Payment, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLPM), a leading provider of international and multi-currency payment processing services, and Moneris Solutions Corporation (“Moneris”), one of North America’s leading payment processors, today announced an agreement to deliver currency conversion functionality at the checkout to Moneris’ portfolio of merchants in Canada.
With this agreement, Moneris plans to integrate Planet Payment’s currency conversion technology into its suite of product offerings. This agreement will significantly expand Planet Payment’s solution reach in Canada - Moneris has over 350,000 merchant locations, processing more than three billion credit and debit card transactions a year.
“Planet Payment is proud to partner with a processor like Moneris to integrate our currency conversion solution into their merchant product offering,” said Pete Ellis, SVP of the Americas at Planet Payment. “Our currency conversion solution provides a superior and customized customer service to international travelers, and we look forward to expanding its presence in Canada.”
Planet Payment’s multi-currency processing solutions allow merchants to provide an enhanced level of customer service by offering international customers the choice to pay in their home currency. Ideal for retailers, restaurants or hoteliers, it lets tourists or business travelers know how much they are paying at the point of purchase, instead of having to wait until they return home to discover their transaction’s actual cost. It is also ideal for online merchants, who can target new markets by pricing in multiple currencies.
“Moneris is committed to delivering services that enable businesses to be flexible when accepting payments from their customers no matter where they’re from. Adding currency conversion capabilities to our in store products will ensure we’re offering market-leading solutions to businesses,” said Karen Cox, Vice President, Payments and Retail Solutions at Moneris. “We are pleased to be working with Planet Payment to bring this solution to our partners and customers in Canada later in 2016.”
