QUINCY, Calif., Aug. 16, 2017 -- Plumas Bank and its parent company, Plumas Bancorp (Nasdaq:PLBC), proudly support Tahoe Public Art and the Art Trail fundraising event which will be launched tomorrow, August 17th from 6:30-8:30pm at the Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort in Tahoe Vista, California.
The Tahoe Public Art Trail program places temporary, semi-permanent, and permanent art at public, private, and resort locations around the Lake Tahoe Basin. The goal of the program is to have a transformational effect on the greater Lake Tahoe community and is designed to engage audiences in contemplating their civic responsibility and instill lasting values that embrace the preservation of the unique and fragile ecological diversity of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Executive Director, Tahoe Public Art, Mia Hanak, explained, “While artists respond to the public experience of contemporary culture, public art helps create a sense of place in our communities by stimulating dialogue around current social and environmental challenges and solutions.” She added, “With Plumas Bank’s help we were able to organize a successful launch of this program and we appreciate their continued support of the arts and the environment.”
Guests at tomorrow’s fundraising event will be able to talk with the artist and view the first sculptural exhibit placed along the new Tahoe Public Art Trail, featuring Burning Man artist Kate Raudenbush’s FUTURE’S PAST. Raudenbush explained that FUTURE’S PAST, a 23-foot tall steel tree sculpture, is an imagined futuristic environment that draws inspiration from the archeological sites of past cultures. It is a theoretic modern ruin that imagines the trajectory of our civilization’s voracious consumption and technological advances.
The sculpture will be exhibited and is available for viewing to the public at Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort in Tahoe Vista, California now through October 1, 2017. For more information visit tahoepublicart.org.
