Poco is not sharing specific details about its future devices recently, but the rumor mill makes up for its silence. A mystery device emerged in the wild that could feature a 5,000mAh battery. The common follow-up question is whether it pertains to the rumored Poco M2 Pro or the Poco F2 version for consumers in India.
Poco M2 Pro could feature a hefty battery
It would not be surprising for the Poco brand to go all-out this year when it comes to pushing out new devices considering how quiet the brand had been in 2019. If the leaks and rumors would turn out to be accurate, a device named Poco M2 Pro could be announced very soon and it might be another product exclusive to the Indian market.
Known leaker Mukul Sharma of stufflistings on Twitter and YouTube recently reported that at least two new Poco devices are slated to launch in India. One of them is anticipated to sport a lithium-ion polymer battery with model number BN56 and with a 5,000mAh capacity. The source noted that it is still uncertain whether this battery will be featured on the rumored Poco M2 Pro or on a different Poco smartphone.

However, it can be recalled that the yet-to-be-confirmed Poco M2 Pro was already linked to another Redmi device, thus, igniting speculations that a rebranding approach could be happening again between these Xiaomi brands. Other certifications for a Poco M2 Pro device indicated that its model number is M2003J6CI. XDA Developers contributors analyzed these bits of information and reported that its internal codename could be “gram,” which has been associated with the Redmi Note 9 Pro -- a smartphone released last month with 5,020mAh battery.
With all these leaked details in mind, it is understandable if Poco fans would start expecting the BN56 battery to be a component of the M2 Pro. And if it is a Redmi Note 9 Pro rebrand, it is also likely to sport the 8nm Snapdragon 720G with four cameras on the back with 64MP wide, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth lenses.
Poco M2 Pro release date likely this month?
Details about the release date of Poco M2 Pro are not as widely available even in the form of information leaks. However, if the device’s WiFi, Bluetooth, and battery are getting certified at this point then its launch could happen soon. This is also a good time to remind fans of a recent Poco India ad hinting at another major announcement “coming soon.”
