A company called “FirstBuild” has launched an Indiegogo campaign to help raise funds for its “Prisma Cold Brew Coffeemaker.” The machine is supposedly able to make cold brew coffee in just 10 minutes, which is substantially shorter compared to the usual 12 hours it traditionally takes.
“Prisma” hit the Indiegogo trail recently, where “FirstBuild” aims to raise money to fund their fast cold brew coffee maker for mass production, The Verge reports. The machine won’t come with Wi-Fi compatibility, it won’t have an app for smartphones, and it won’t come with Bluetooth. “Prisma” will harken to a long-forgotten age where a coffee maker was just that; a coffee maker.
As Fortune notes, cold brew coffee can take half a day or longer to make, which makes it traditionally something of a luxury item that only coffee connoisseurs could appreciate or go through the trouble of actually making. By shortening the amount of time to cold brew coffee, however, “Prisma” could revolutionize how the blend is appreciated.
By utilizing a technique called “specialized vacuum infusion process,” the “Prisma” coffee brewer is meant to significantly shorten the amount of time it takes to produce the blend without losing the flavor or aroma that cold brewing is known for. The maker of the machine, “FirstBuild,” is actually under the umbrella of GE Appliances.
The goal of the Indiegogo campaign is $150,000, and as of writing this piece, the campaign has attracted 300 backers who pledged $75,000 in total. This puts the fundraising effort halfway to its goal and in such a short time too.
Those who contributed to the campaign, which stood at $229 each, would get their own coffeemaker for their trouble, Engadget reports. Once the funding is done, mass production will begin and the “Prisma” will hit store shelves in September 2017.
