ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 18, 2016 -- The board of directors of the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) announced today that it has initiated a search for its next executive director and that it has selected Russell Reynolds Associates (RRA), a global leader in assessment, recruitment and succession planning, as its partner in identifying a new leader. RAPS, which is the world's largest organization serving professionals involved in the regulation of medical products, this year celebrates its 40th anniversary in providing leading education and professional development opportunities, credentialing and many other resources for the regulatory profession.
To manage through the transition, RAPS' board of directors has named Board Director Don Boyer as interim strategy lead. He is working with the current RAPS leadership team including Sabrina Smith, senior vice president and chief operating officer; Dee Kaminsky, vice president, strategy and market development and Matt Clark, vice president, brand management. Boyer brings decades of leadership and management experience across the international regulatory affairs spectrum from a distinguished career at Health Canada. He has both hands-on regulation experience and has overseen national regulatory programs, including responsibility for human and financial resources. Boyer will step down as interim strategy lead following the selection of a new executive director.
The board's priority during the search is to ensure that the same level of excellence and commitment in programming and other essential functions for RAPS members and partners continues, and that day-to-day operations are managed successfully in support of staff. No organizational changes are expected during this transition period.
Since 1976, RAPS has helped regulatory professionals succeed in their roles and has remained steadfast in advancing the regulatory profession. As healthcare and the need for innovative medical products continues to evolve, the RAPS board is committed to assuring that the organization remains ready to meet challenges of the future and that the new executive director will bring the skills and attributes needed to ensure RAPS' continued vibrancy and leadership.
Stephanie Tomasso, head of Russell Reynolds' Association Executive practice based in Washington, DC, will lead the search. With questions about candidate qualifications, or to make candidate recommendations, she can be contacted at [email protected] or +1 202 654 7852.
