Rakuten Inc , an e-commerce firm based out of Japan, has announced that it is now accepting bitcoin as a payment method on its U.S. online shopping site, a spokeswoman said on Tuesday. It's German and Austrian sites will also follow suit, however no decision has been made with regard to its profitable Japanese e-commerce site, she added.
The decision suggests that the firm, planning to expand overseas, is joining other online retail leaders like Amazon, Expedia etc. that have already started accepting the virtual currency.
