The highly anticipated Ram 1500 REV, a flagship in electric pickups, won’t roll out until 2025. Stellantis has delayed the truck to prioritize quality, citing an ambitious workload as the company develops its next-generation STLA Frame platform promising up to 690 miles of range.
Ram's Electric Pickup Steals the Spotlight
The electric pickup from Ram was the show-stopper at CES 2023, following the debut of the concept Ram 1500 REV (Revolution Battery-electric vehicle).
In terms of the most important metrics, including range, payload, towing capacity, and charging durations, Ram's electric pickup will "outperform all competitors," according to Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares.
Stellantis had hoped to release the Ram 1500 REV by year's end, but plans have now changed.
Following Tuesday's unveiling of the STLA Frame platform, Tavares announced that the first electric pickup from Ram will not be available until the middle of 2025.
In a call with reporters (as reported by Bloomberg), Tavares stated, "We are just facing a very significant amount of workload" and that the company is aiming to be "prudent" while handling validation. "So we take our time," Tavares complimented.
Stellantis Balances an Ambitious EV Lineup
Stellantis' chief executive officer has stated that the firm is "managing the peak between the products that we have ahead of us."
A number of much-anticipated electric vehicle (EV) debuts, including the Charger Daytona, Jeep Wagoneer S, and Ram 1500 REV, will occur during the peak.
New electric vehicles from Ram and Jeep will be built on the STLA Frame chassis, which Tavares proudly displayed. The platform can provide a range of up to 500 kilometers, Electrek shares.
Impressive Specs for the Ram 1500 REV
The forthcoming Ram truck is an example of a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV), and it has a maximum of 690 miles of range.
We anticipate that the Ram 1500 REV's 168 kWh battery pack will allow it to travel more than 350 miles. You may expect a maximum payload of 2,700 lbs and a towing capacity of up to 14,000 lbs.
