Razer is known for proposing some pretty ridiculous things to PC gamers on top of more normal if super powerful gaming units that it sells. For this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, the company lives up to its reputation with several propositions that border on insane. Among them are the projector/screen hybrid called Project Ariana and the laptop that can unfold three screens.
Talking about Project Ariana first, the concept is quite simple and yet brilliant. It basically involves playing video games on screens as big as players want by projecting the images on a wall or a canvas, PC Mag reports. Technically, PC Gamers could already experience gaming on huge screens thanks to TV units that have a 60-inch display or more. However, it would seem that Razer doesn’t think this is big enough.
During the CES demo, the company showcased a few games that were running on both a laptop screen and a simulated living room wall. Both systems shared the 4K streaming burden between them, but it would seem that the majority of the focus during the demo was still given to the laptop screen. As for the performance itself, the limited time and data only amounted to a feeling of confusion or immersion among testers.
Now, onto the laptop with the three screens, Razer calls it Project Valerie. It’s basically a single unit computer where the screens slide in and out as needed. In terms of specs, it’s still a high-end Blade Pro equipped with Nvidia’s GTX 1080 GPU. In terms of weight, this unit is obviously heavier thanks to the extra screens, PC World notes.
In total, it weighs up to 12 pounds and has a thickness of 1.5 inches. In comparison to most modern laptops, that’s practically a desktop, and in a way it is. Project Valerie is basically the epitome of a laptop that’s meant to replace desktops.
