“Red Dead Redemption 2” is the long-awaited sequel to the incredible open-world western shooter that Rockstar made and the reviews for the game are out. As of writing, it almost seems as if critics are writhing on the floor in ecstasy after playing the title. The praises are enough to make one think that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is the messiah of the gaming industry.
As one of the top video game developers in the world, Rockstar has its fair share of hits that have absolutely dominated the market. Aside from the first “Red Dead Redemption” game, it also had “Grand Theft Auto V” that still tops the charts. However, as Forbes notes, “Red Dead Redemption 2” is about to make a dent in that record.
Standing at a whopping 97 on Metacritic, “Red Dead Redemption 2” is just one point shy of “Grand Theft Auto V’s” 98. This is for the PlayStation 4 version.
The Xbox One version scored better with 98, so the two games are tied on that front. No matter how one cuts it, “Red Dead Redemption 2” is considered by reviewers to be a monster of a game that has more than earned all of the accolades it is getting.
Touching on what makes this game so amazing, The Verge points out how “Red Dead Redemption 2” might just be the best open-world game ever made. There are so many interactive points in the shooter that makes it unbelievably immersive, including sipping a cup of coffee or shaving in the morning. There’s no point to these activities either, save simply to give players the option to experience them.
At the end of the day, this is what gamers are looking for when they buy a title like “Red Dead Redemption 2.” The game might have even surpassed current title-holder “The Witcher 3: Wil Hunt” in terms of sheer immersion and obsession with details.
