Renault Korea Motors has recently unveiled its upgraded vehicle lineup by incorporating F1 engine technologies into the SM6 TCe 300 Inspire 01 sedan. The mid-sized sedan boasts a powerful V4 1.8-liter inline turbo engine, delivering an impressive maximum output of 223 horsepower and a torque value of 30.6 kg.m.
A Powerful Fusion of Racing Technology and Everyday Performance
The integration of Renault's F1 engine technology has played a crucial role in achieving exceptional performance in the SM6 TCe 300 Inspire, reports Korea Times. This synergy between racing expertise and daily driving capabilities ensures an exhilarating experience for car enthusiasts.
The SM6 TCe 300 Inspire stands out with its signature twin-scroll turbo engine. By splitting the exhaust portion of the turbocharger into two channels, incoming exhaust pulses are effectively separated. This unique setup allows the vehicle's exhaust to power the turbine consistently, irrespective of engine rotation speed.
With a maximum torque ranging between 2,000 and 4,800 rpm, the SM6 TCe 300 Inspire is supremely well-suited for everyday driving scenarios. Whether cruising on the highways or navigating city streets, the sedan delivers optimal performance at various speed ranges, ensuring a smooth and responsive ride.
Renault has a rich history of active participation in international racing competitions for open-wheel single-seater formula racing machines. As a team owner and engine manufacturer, the French carmaker has successfully translated its racing expertise into cutting-edge automotive technologies.
The V4 1.8-liter inline engine utilized in the SM6 TCe 300 Inspire is exclusively produced at Renault's state-of-the-art Busan plant. Renowned for its exceptional quality control, this facility boasts one of the lowest defect rates across the entire Renault Group.
F1 Hybrid System for Mass-Produced Models
Renault's footprint in F1 racing extends beyond performance sedans. The company has also implemented its F1 hybrid system in its mass-produced models, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly solutions.
The XM3 E-Tech, a compact SUV in Renault's lineup, shares a similar powertrain setup with F1 racing machines. This SUV maximizes energy efficiency by sporting a 1.6-liter engine with two high-voltage electric motors. The combined maximum output of the two motors reaches an impressive 69 horsepower.
In response to changes in F1 regulations, Renault and other manufacturers transitioned from 2.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 engines to 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid power units in 2014. This shift reflects the automotive industry's focus on reducing emissions and addressing concerns about pollution.
In a press release, Renault also announced that it will invest €3 billion to launch eight new models outside Europe, including five vehicles from the C and D-segments to position the brand in the segments creating the most value by 2027.
