“Rick and Morty” season 4 has long been in production, but there is no word yet on when it is getting released. But did a recent interview with one of its voice actors hint at more months of waiting for the release date announcement?
One of the latest updates about “Rick and Morty” season 4 came from actress Sarah Chalke who is the voice behind Beth Smith — Rick’s only daughter and Morty’s mother. When pressed to bring fans up to speed on the animated show’s return, Chalke only told ET Canada, “It’s coming. I cannot say when. We’re making them right now, though, and I’m excited for you guys to get to see them.”
Chalke’s update generally means that “Rick and Morty” season 4 is still in production. She might have meant that she already spent some time in the audio recording booth to work on some episodes with already finished animation.
The series has had long breaks in between season finales and new season premieres. But “Rick and Morty” season 4 is slated to have up to 70 episodes — roughly seven times longer than its usual run. So it is safe to assume that fans will really have to wait for a much longer period this time. The fact that Adult Swim has not yet announced even a 2019 placeholder is also telling fans to have more patience.
Meanwhile, Chalke also assured fans that “Rick and Morty” season 4 will have more fun adventures mostly because of Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s combined creativity. “They’re like a bottomless supply [of ideas], the two of them,” Chalke said about the series co-creators. “That’s what’s been so fun about working on the show.” Roiland is also the voice actor for both the titular characters.
“Rick and Morty” season 4 has been confirmed for almost a year now that also means it has been in production for several months. The first half of 2019 is not over yet, and that leaves more room for the producers to release the fourth installment within the year. But it is best to wait for the official announcement. For now, fans can rewatch seasons 1 to 3 through streaming platforms like Netflix.
