‘Riverdale’ Season 4 Spoilers: CW Renews Series; New Installment to Feature Time Jump and Jughead’s Shocking Fate

Riverdale

“Riverdale” season 4 has been renewed, but it is a sad thing that some characters have exited during the third season. What’s more, there is an assumption that another one might leave and could lead to major changes in the series.

Plot

The news is that Jughead could possibly die in “Riverdale” season 4 and this was what the viewers assumed after watching the previous installment’s finale. The cliffhanger in the final episode suggested that Cole Sprouse’s character might die and this shocked many fans as they do not want the actor to leave.

In a time jump to the future in season 3’s finale, Archie, Veronica, and Betty were shown standing in front of a fire. Jughead is not with them but along with their clothes, the three were also burning his beanie, and many said that this is a hint to Sprouse’s exit. But then, fans will have to wait for “Riverdale” season 4 to determine Jug’s real fate.

In any case, the show already lost someone important in the last season and as everyone already knows Luke Perry passed away in March and the show will only address this in “Riverdale” season 4. Show creator and showrunner, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa relayed that they will honor the actor in the upcoming installment and they will make sure that Fred Andrew’s exit is justified.

“We thought that rather than try to squeeze something in, we would let the season play out and then really do it justice and honor both Luke and Fred at the beginning of Season 4,” the showrunner told Vanity Fair. “The loss of Perry absolutely is informing and changing what we’re doing in Season 4. Especially in terms of Archie’s story but really in the overall tone of the show.”

Episodes and Air Date

“Riverdale” season 4 is expected to present 22 episodes just like the previous installments. Although CW has yet to announce its release date, it is likely to arrive in the first half of 2020.
