Robert Pattinson is poised to take the film industry by storm again as it’s being reported he’s in a short list to play Batman. While the casting process has yet to be concluded, the “Twilight” alum apparently holds the edge against others who are being considered for the role, Deadline reported.
Nicholas Hoult, Armie Hammer, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are the other names that have come up beside Robert Pattinson. With regards to the film’s story, nothing has been confirmed on that front either. However, director Matt Reeves did say that movie will take on a noir theme, focusing on the sleuthing skills of Batman and highlighting why he’s deemed as the world’s greatest detective, THR reported.
Regarding its title, the film is being called “The Batman” for now, although Reeves did say that title isn’t set in stone just yet. There’s still no news what other iterations have been suggested as they’re still exploring the narrative that would best suit the Cape Crusader and Robert Pattinson’s skillset.
Following his involvement with the “Twilight” franchise, the Brit gravitated towards smaller roles that honed his acting skills in different genres. Interestingly enough, Robert Pattinson will be starring in Christopher Nolan’s yet-to-be-named film slated for release on July 17, 2020.
Nolan, of course, spearheaded the highly-acclaimed “The Dark Knight Trilogy” that saw several iconic DC villains stepping into the spotlight. Ra’s Al Ghul, Bane, Scarecrow, Joker, and several others all contributed to the success of the films. With Robert Pattinson working closely with Nolan, he could ask the director for a few pointers on how to approach the popular character.
As for the villains themselves, nothing has been revealed so far. But Reeves did tease that Penguin might be returning to the big screen again with Josh Gad potentially playing the eccentric criminal mastermind. As for Robert Pattinson himself, he has yet to talk about the short list that he’s on and it’s expected he’ll remain silent about the subject until Warner Bros. finally decide who’s going to play the Cape Crusader.
