‘Robin Hood’ Film, Updates: Futuristic Adaptation Lands Visual Effects Master Hasraf ‘HaZ’ Dulull as Director, Production Slated to Begin in 2017

‘Robin Hood’ is a planned futuristic adaptation based on the iconic Robin Hood of English folklore to be produced by Gianni Nunnari of ‘300’ fame. Visual Effects Master Hasraf ‘HaZ’ Dulull has signed on to direct film set in a future dystopian London.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, an upcoming adaptation for the classic Robin Hood tale developed by Gianni Nunnari and his Hollywood Gang banner finally landed its director. Hasraf ‘HaZ’ Dulull, a critically-acclaimed visual effects Creative and writer, signed on to direct yet untitled futuristic adaptation of Robin Hood.

Dulull was nominated for several Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards for his visual effects supervision work. He began his career in vfx work creating video game cinematic sequences before moving into the film industry. He worked for several British television series such as BBC One’s ‘Poldark’ and ‘The Living and the Dead’.

He transitioned into filmmaking with his science-fiction short ‘Project Kronos’, where he served as both writer and director. He continues to work in the visual effects industry as a consultant.

Meanwhile, Nunnari expressed his enthusiasm over having Dulull on-board after being impressed with the artist’s past work. He said, “HaZ brings the grounded realistic approach to the world depicting technology and people in a not too distant dystopian London.”

The Italian film producer is best known for his work on several full-feature films including the ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ cinematic series,  2006’s ‘The Departed’, 2006’s ‘300’, 2010’s ‘Shutter Island’, and 2011’s ‘Immortals’.

It was reported by Collider that Nunnari and his team are expected to begin production some time in 2017. The script will be prepared by British comic book author Tony Lee. Lee also worked for several UK and US comic publishers throughout his career including Marvel Comics, DC Comics, IDW Publishing and 2000 AD.

‘Robin Hood’ is a yet untitled film and a futuristic take on the story of the legendary heroic outlaw in English folkore. It is currently under the working title ‘Robin Hood 2058’. The upcoming film is one of the several planned cinematic adaptations of the popular folk figure that includes Lionsgate’s ‘Robin Hood: Origins’ directed by Otto Brathurst and starring Taron Egerton in the lead role.
