Russia Launches Missile and Drone Attacks on Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv

Russian forces launched a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks across Ukraine early Tuesday, targeting Kyiv and several other major cities as the conflict continued to intensify.

Air raid sirens sounded across the Ukrainian capital before authorities confirmed that Russia had fired missiles toward the city. The alert remained in effect for about 50 minutes before it was lifted. Officials said no fatalities or injuries were immediately reported in Kyiv.

According to Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's military administration, the strikes ignited fires at two storage facilities in the Holosiivskyi district, located just outside the city center. Emergency crews were dispatched to contain the blazes and assess the damage.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said debris from intercepted drones landed in an open area in the city's eastern outskirts. The falling wreckage also set several vehicles on fire, adding to the damage caused by the overnight assault. Reuters witnesses reported hearing multiple explosions throughout the capital during the attack.

Elsewhere in Ukraine, Russian drone strikes also hit the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian emergency services said the attacks targeted residential neighborhoods and other civilian areas, leaving at least 11 people injured. Rescue teams responded to the affected locations while officials continued to evaluate the extent of the destruction.

In the Kharkiv region, another Russian drone strike hit a town outside Ukraine's second-largest city. Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said six people were injured in the attack, according to a statement posted on Telegram.

The latest missile and drone assaults underscore Russia's continued use of long-range weapons against Ukrainian cities despite ongoing international efforts to reduce hostilities. Ukrainian authorities continue to monitor the security situation while emergency responders work to assist affected communities and restore damaged infrastructure following the overnight attacks.
